Meet The Face Behind Construct Legal

I'm Faren Bogach, the proud owner of Construct Legal. I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

Ever since I was young, I have been hard-working and ambitious. I started my career as a commercial litigator before I found construction and infrastructure law. I am so passionate about what I do that I co-founded a company that developed software to help users navigate the prompt payment and adjudication provisions of the Construction Act without the need of a lawyer. 

This was important to me because lawyers should be paid to provide legal advice, not legal information. I did this while I worked at a large law firm in Toronto, where I practiced for fourteen years before deciding to start a firm focused on construction and infrastructure projects. 

Construct Legal was established in January 2022.

Over the past year, I have been very fortunate to have grown my team. We currently have four incredible lawyers and our Chief of Everything and Assistant Extraordinaire, and we work together towards our shared goal of offering our clients the best legal services.

Personally, I love helping clients achieve their desired outcomes. While I enjoy litigating, providing advice to a client that avoids a dispute is incredibly enjoyable. I also love working with colleagues that I respect.

What sets me apart

My philosophy is to focus on what we do best: construction and infrastructure law. Our clients are everything to us, and we also focus on client service.

As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my commitment to creating a team environment where everyone at the firm is working toward helping our clients achieve their goals.

We don't have minimum billable hour targets. Instead, we cap the number of hours that each lawyer can work. This ensures that our team is energized, available, and focused on client outcomes and satisfaction instead of churning files and counting hours to get a bonus. We have a profit share plan so that every member of the firm is invested in the firm's outcomes.

I attribute my success to my fantastic team. I am also incredibly grateful for our wonderful clients who took a chance on us when we first started out. We have a great network of colleagues that refer their clients to us.

We are very new, and the first pay cheque was a moment that I will never forget. I had spent months leading up to the opening of the firm worrying about many things, including our finances. The first cheque was a sign that we were on our way and a moment that has given me immense satisfaction. 

When I am not at work, I have three young children and spend a lot of time at soccer fields, hockey rinks and reading the Harry Potter series.

I also believe in giving back to society. As part of that belief, I am a director of two not-for-profit corporations that maintain and are currently constructing affordable housing in Toronto. I am very proud to be able to do something for others.
